Massive Attack Pull Music from Spotify Over CEO’s Military AI Investment.
Massive Attack have removed their entire catalogue from Spotify in protest against CEO Daniel Ek’s €600m investment in Helsing, a defence tech firm developing AI-driven battlefield software and military drones.
In a statement, the band described the decision as a response to the “moral and ethical burden” now placed on artists, whose work risks funding “lethal, dystopian technologies.” They added:
“Enough is more than enough. Another way is possible.”
The move coincides with their support for No Music for Genocide, a campaign of more than 400 artists and labels refusing to allow their music on streaming platforms in Israel.
Massive Attack join acts including King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Deerhoof, and Wu Lyf, all of whom have cut ties with Spotify following Ek’s military AI investments.

Spotify responded by insisting that it is “a totally separate company” from Helsing, which it says operates only in Europe and Ukraine.
Massive Attack’s stand, however, underscores growing resistance among artists who reject complicity in funding war through their creative work.
